Outreach

Community outreach and involvement is an important part of the Northern Terminus Traffic Study. It is anticipated that the outreach will occur via Stakeholder Meetings and Community Meetings.

COMMUNITY MEETING #2 – OCTOBER 30, 2019 AND NOVEMBER 2, 2019

Two Community Meetings were held on October 30, 2019 and November 2, 2019. The first meeting took place at the Broadway Armory from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and 68 members of the public attended. The second meeting took place at Saint Andrew Greek Orthodox Church from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and 84 members of the public attended.

Both meetings featured identical presentations and workshops. The meetings were held in an open house format and featured a PowerPoint presentation followed by a breakout group workshop where attendees reviewed and provided feedback on the four finalist alternatives. On November 2, the Community Meeting also included an optional walkshop prior to the meeting. 24 members of the public attended the walkshop, which followed a one-mile route to discuss key locations and issues of the NTTS corridor.

Comments will continue to be accepted through the entire project development process. However, to become part of the public record of these Community Meetings, comments must be received or postmarked by November 15, 2019.

The next Community Meeting for the NTTS is anticipated to take place in 2020.


COMMUNITY MEETING #1 – JUNE 6, 2017
The first Community Meeting was held on June 6, 2017 at Senn High School. The meeting was attended by 64 people and a total of 9 Comment Forms were received. The meeting was held in an open house format from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. with a PowerPoint presentation at 6 p.m. Aerial maps and interactive activities were present at the meeting. Comments will be accepted through the entire project development process. However, to become part of the public record of this Community Meeting, comments must be received or postmarked by June 27, 2017.

STAKEHOLDER MEETING #1
The first Northern Terminus Traffic Study (NTTS) Stakeholder Meeting took place on April 27, 2017 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
This meeting provided an introduction to the NTTS and solicited input from stakeholders. The presentation reviewed the North DuSable Lake Shore Drive Phase I Study and its relation to the NTTS, history and existing conditions of the study area, and study goals and objectives. Following the presentation, a Needs Assessment group exercise took place. Stakeholders were asked about current conditions and needs throughout the study area. The following issues were identified: traffic congestion/access problems, safety problems, pedestrian/bicycle circulation problems, and sensitive social or economic resources. Additionally, project team members were available to discuss the study and answer questions.
